Professor to present at international workshop

George Fernandez, a professor of applied statistics and the director of the Center for Research Design and Analysis at the University of Nevada, Reno, will travel to Durban, South Africa in August to present a full-day workshop during the 57th session of the International Statistics Institute.

Fernandez, who will present on Aug. 14, will demonstrate the advanced features of data mining applications which he has developed and described in his book, “Data mining SAS applications” (Chapman/Hall publishing). The full-day workshop is entitled, “Exploratory Graphical analysis in descriptive and predictive modeling.”

A total of 28 workshops, 103 invited and 157 contributed sessions will be offered in the week-long conference. More than 5,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend the biannual conference.
