Parking update for Mathematics and Science Center construction

Parking update for Mathematics and Science Center construction

As preparation for construction of the Davidson Mathematics and Science Center begins, parking on the lower campus will be altered.

Effective Monday, April 14, the lower campus Silver #8 parking lot will be closed to begin construction of the 90,000-square-foot building, which when it opens will serve as a hub of student learning and instruction for the University’s College of Science.

All Silver 8 lower campus eastside parking around Fleischmann Agriculture, Palmer Engineering, Paul Laxalt Mineral Engineering, Scrugham Engineering/Mines, Chemistry Building, Leifson Physics, Harry Reid Engineering Lab and the Central Heat Plant will be closed except for disabled parking, according to Facilities Services.

All faculty, staff and students that have Silver #8 parking permits will need to park in the Whalen Parking Complex using a Silver #8 permit. If these individuals currently purchase permits via payroll deduction, they will automatically receive a Silver #11 permit (Whalen Parking Complex) for the 2008-09 school year. If these individuals pay via other methods, they will receive a renewal notice with the option to purchase a Silver #11 permit.

The East Campus Shuttle Service will operate in 10 minute intervals, beginning in the fall semester. If you would rather park at the Baseball Field and shuttle to lower campus instead of parking at the Whalen Parking Complex, contact the Parking Department at 784-4654 to let them know this preference so that they can renew your permit for the green zone for the next year.

Disabled Parking
Existing disabled parking north of Scrugham Engineering/Mines and south of the Chemistry building will remain open. New disabled parking will be created at the southeast corner of Palmer Engineering and the meters south of Fleischmann Agriculture.

The Evans Avenue entrance parking area will be converted to disabled parking. Individuals with disabled permits who need to park in the disabled parking at Scrugham Engineering/Mines, Palmer Engineering or Chemistry must contact the parking department at 784-4654 to obtain an access device to Silver #4 lot (located east of the Virginia Street Gym and White Pine Hall) in order to access the lower campus disabled parking lots. Access will be down the hill north of the Ansari Business building. Please note that only disabled permit holders are to use this access road. There will be no other Silver #8 parking allowed.
