KUNR's Spring Membership Drive will run from April 16 to April 20. The Spring Membership Drive is a fundraiser that will allow KUNR to purchase nationally syndicated programming and fund local programs.
KUNR at 88.7 FM is licensed to the University and is part of the Information Technology family. As the area's local public radio station, KUNR's success is tied closely to the financial support of listeners.
"I can't overestimate how vital it is that those who enjoy KUNR support the station," said general manager David Stipech. "Because KUNR is affiliated with the University, it is gratifying to see financial participation from those on campus and throughout the system."
KUNR began an experiment last fall with the on-air drive shortened by half the traditional time. He notes that payroll deduction is a popular and convenient option of Nevada System of Higher Education employees.
"Listeners really embraced the idea of fewer hours of on-air fundraising and stepped up to make it a huge success, so we will follow a very similar format for the spring drive," Stipech said.
