Summary
Thad joined the University’s Office of General Counsel in April 2025. He was previously Counsel at a law firm in Reno, a career law clerk to a federal judge, also in Reno, and an Associate at an international law firm in San Francisco. He attended the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, graduating in 2016, and Pomona College, graduating in 2010. In between college and law school, he spent three years as a legal assistant at Google in Mountain View, California, and Paris, France.
Originally from a small town in Vermont, he is married and has two children. Outside of work, he enjoys mountain biking, trail running, and skiing—increasingly with his children. Thad’s parents were high school teachers when he was a child, and his wife is an elementary school teacher. He is accordingly thrilled to work in higher education and proud to be part of the University team, supporting the University’s land grant mission and contributing in a small way to the transformative impact the University can have on students and their families. Within the Office of General Counsel, Thad primarily focuses on real estate and intellectual property.
