End of the Academic Year

Our academic year, by any measure, has been one of tremendous achievement and success by our students, faculty and staff.

May 13, 2026

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

As we complete instruction today, I would like to take a moment to share a word of thanks.

Our academic year, by any measure, has been one of tremendous achievement and success by our students, faculty and staff. It is an affirmation of the collaborative and compassionate spirit that has marked our institution’s history for more than 151 years (and here is to looking forward to celebrating our 152nd birthday on Oct. 12, 2026!).

What always characterizes life on our campus is a deep and abiding sense that as we uphold the values of the state’s oldest land-grant institution of higher education, we strengthen an enduring culture of care and success. It is what helps to carry us throughout our daily lives. It provides us with the inspiration we need to do the bold things our world needs. As our Spring Commencement Ceremonies beckon us to assemble on the Quad this week, it is this institution-wide commitment to one another – that in the beauty and wonder of individual achievement, we all benefit – that we will be celebrating with all of our hearts.

To all those who will be graduating this week, congratulations! And to all those who helped our graduates reach this shining pinnacle of their academic careers, thank you. We arrive on this campus sometimes uncertain what is next and what we are seeking. In our faculty and staff, we find the needed grounding, assured direction and confident wisdom that leads to incredible achievement.

To all of the people of our great University, your work throughout this past year has been notable and memorable. It carries on, of course, and with summer soon arriving, I hope everyone has a chance to recharge and to reconnect with the people who matter most. Another academic year will be upon us before we know it. Thank you all for a year we all won’t soon forget.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
