After years of extensive research, the University of Nevada, Reno is set to unveil its new institutional brand during the State of the University Address on Oct. 20, 2026. The address will take place in the new University of Nevada Fieldhouse, following a ribbon cutting ceremony.

University President Brian Sandoval says this branding initiative is more than simply updating a logo.

“We have tremendous momentum and a significant opportunity to elevate the University’s visibility, reputation and voice on a regional, national and global stage,” Sandoval said. “Guided by extensive research and informed by engagement with stakeholders from across our campus community, we have undertaken a comprehensive branding initiative designed to better reflect the excellence, innovation and impact that define our University today.”

This effort will culminate in the launch of a new brand identity, including updated University logos, a modern visual system and a dynamic brand campaign. Together, these elements will more clearly communicate who the University is and the value the institution delivers to students, Nevada and society.

“Together, these elements will help bring the University’s distinctive strengths, ambitious vision and transformative impact to life for audiences both within and beyond Nevada,” Sandoval said.

The brand initiative was thoughtfully researched and designed to honor the University’s 152-year history, while positioning the institution for an even stronger future. It celebrates the traditions and values that have shaped the University while reflecting its commitment to excellence and aspiration to inspire current and future students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community and industry partners.

Following the launch, the Office of Marketing and Communications will lead a strategic, phased implementation of the brand across the institution over the coming years. At the same time, the brand campaign will be introduced in targeted in-state and out-of-state markets to strengthen awareness, enhance the University’s competitive position and build lasting affinity.

“We are, without question, an institution on the rise. To continue building on that momentum, we must create a deeper emotional connection with our audiences and more clearly communicate the values that define who we are,” said Kerri Garcia, executive director, University Marketing and Communications. “A strong, distinctive brand elevates every aspect of the University. It helps attract and retain outstanding students, faculty and staff; increases philanthropic investment; strengthens research partnerships and funding opportunities; and enhances pride in the University while elevating the value of a degree for our alumni.”

The State of the University Address will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2026, in the new University of Nevada Fieldhouse.

Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend the free event and registration is encouraged. The community is encouraged to tune in to the address via livestream, which will be available at UNR.edu.
