Introducing the Digital Wolf Pack Initiative and Apple collaboration

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

The educational experience we offer our students and the University’s commitment we make to their success means that we must always find innovative ways to ensure that this journey is not only successful, but transformational. If our students are truly to become who they wish to be during their time with us, we must continue to provide exceptional attention and support to them. This means that access to the leading technological learning tools is a must. This is why I am pleased to announce that the University is collaborating with Apple to launch the Digital Wolf Pack Initiative.

As part of the initiative, each member of the fall 2021 semester first-year class will receive an iPad Air at no cost as the University collaborates with Apple to develop a program that will provide a common learning platform that delivers digital equity to technology and digital tools. The new initiative will augment digital literacy and enhance student success while enhancing curriculum that will help our students become even more well prepared as they join the workforce. Only a select group of universities in the U.S. have launched this caliber of initiative and I am proud that we are amongst them.

The Digital Wolf Pack Initiative includes deployment of the iPad Air as well as focused training for students and faculty to improve digital literacy and fluency with apps that support productivity, creativity and communication. Each incoming freshman student will receive an iPad Air, an Apple Smart Keyboard Folio, an Apple Pencil and a suite of software and creativity apps that allow the technology to integrate into students’ careers at the University.

This collaboration with one of the world’s unquestioned technology innovators will provide a common learning platform for all Wolf Pack students that delivers digital equity to technology and digital tools that will transform the learning experience for our University. We want to ensure students have the same level of innovative technology, digital tools and learning materials, anywhere and anytime from their first day on campus through graduation and beyond. This collaboration is going to make that happen.

In addition, the Digital Wolf Pack Initiative will be incorporated into NevadaFIT, the University’s academic preparatory week that precedes the start of the fall semester. In addition, University faculty will receive training in the ways they can use digital tools to advance the learning experience at the University and to help students achieve academically.

We selected Apple as our collaborative partner because of the power of the iPad Air hardware, the availability of robust suites of software and apps and its best-in-class security and safety measures that ensure users’ privacy. The Digital Wolf Pack Initiative will help our students to achieve the important goal of becoming whatever they wish to be by providing technological tools that may be needed.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
