The Washoe County Commission proclaimed Oct. 25 Nevada Water Innovation Institute Day at its Oct. 25 meeting.

Civil and Environmental Engineering chair Krishna Pagilla, director of the Nevada Water Innovation Institute (NWII), accepted the proclamation and introduced other NWII researchers present: associate professors Eric Marchand and Keith Dennett, research scientists Lin Li and Laura Haak, and student researchers Kevin Stewart, Niloufar Gharoon and Madeline Carine.

The NWII, a university-led partnership that collaborates with regional agencies on water issues, recently celebrated its fifth year. Its projects include wastewater monitoring to determine the presence of COVID-19 in the community as well as work around water reclamation technologies, storm water control technologies and water reuse.
