118 Nevada athletes earned MW Academic honors this year

Eighty University of Nevada student athletes earned All-Mountain West academic honors for the spring of 2015 as announced by the conference office on Thursday.  Combined with the 38 in the fall, 118 Pack athletics were honored for their work in the classroom this year by the MW.

In order to qualify for academic all-Conference honors, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic semester/quarter at the member institution, have a cumulative grade-point-average, at the member institution, of 3.0 or better, and competed in 50 percent of the team's varsity contests.

A league record 959 student athletes were recognized by the MW for the spring.  Nevada had representatives in baseball, men's golf, men's tennis, softball, women's basketball, women's golf, women's swimming & diving, women's tennis and women's track & field.

The women's track & field team led the Pack with 28 representatives on the team followed by women's swimming & diving with 15.  Women's basketball placed eight members on the academic team, baseball was represented by seven players and women's tennis had six players honored.  Five members of the women's golf and softball teams were recognized and three from men's golf and men's tennis.

Representing the women's track & field team were: Alaina Anderson, Leah Carter, Katia Coquis, Jennifer Delucchi, Caitlin Devitt-Payne, Anna Dubois, McKenna Evans, Reighan Fisher, Brittany Graves, Savanna Haverfield, Kashae Knox, Emily Myers, Laura Palacios, Tara Park, Dezirae Pennington, Alyssa Porter, Alison Powers, Anna Preciado, Erika Root, Sidney Root, Marissa Suan, Katherine Surin, Alexandra Tierney, Anne Underwood, Katelin Westerterp, Makeya White, Meagan Wood and Alyssa Zunino.

The 15 members of the women's swimming & diving team are:  Lauren Allen, Teresa Baerens, Jocelin Drennan, Josefin Eriksen, Michelle Forman, Erin Fuss, Kate Hofmeyer, Sita Kusserow, Arantxa Medina-Alegria, Krysta Palmer, Emma Payne, Briana Peterson, Kaelie Reviglio, Jaeger Turner and Luiza Vieira.

Women's basketball selections were:  Emily Burns, Anna Cameron, Aja Johnson, Iman Lathan, Mimi Mungedi, Kayla Reeves, Julia Shelbourn and Teige Zeller.

The baseball team was represented by: Justin Bridgman, Michael Fain, Grant Fennell, Bryce Greager, Evan McMahan, Kewby Meyer and Adam Whitt.

The five from the softball team were:  Megan Dortch, Mckenna Isenberg, Raquel Martinez, Molly McWilliams and Chase Redington.

Women's tennis selections were:  Blaga Delic, Juliette Legendre, Monika Magusiak, Sheila Morales, Elissa Pavelea and Sheila Smiley.

Women's golf honorees are:  Jordan Keyser, Caryn Khoo, Celyn Khoo, Nikki Prichard and Bethany Wurster.

Members of the men's golf team were:  Christopher Carson, Gustavo Chuang and David Hinitz.

Selected from the men's tennis team were: Robert Allan, Mile Cilic and Andrew Poustie.
