Importance of Traffic Safety
October 15, 2025
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
As we enter the midpoint of the semester, it is important that we all remember that safety in and around campus roads is everyone’s responsibility. Members of our Wolf Pack Family have sustained injuries due to excessive speed and carelessness. Whether you are driving a car, riding a scooter, skateboarding, or walking, staying alert and following traffic laws helps keep our Wolf Pack community safe. We are a community that looks out for one another and being aware of our own safety as well as those around us is an important part of living, working, and studying on our campus.
Here are a few key reminders:
- Slow down: Speed limits exist for a reason—especially in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic. Take your time and be cautious.
- Follow the rules of the road: Obey stop signs, traffic signals, and lane markings. These laws apply to all vehicles, including scooters and skateboards.
- Stay alert: Avoid distractions like phones or headphones when navigating campus streets. Look out for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles.
- Wear helmets: If you're riding a scooter, bike, or skateboard, protect yourself by wearing a helmet.
- Give pedestrians the right of way: Always stop for people in crosswalks and be patient as they cross.
- Use designated paths: Stay on bike lanes, sidewalks, and marked crossings. Avoid weaving through traffic or riding on busy roads not meant for scooters, bikes, or skateboards.
It is the responsibility of our entire Wolf Pack community to make our campus a safe place for everyone. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent serious accidents and injuries.
Stay safe and look out for one another!
Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
