Pride month
June 2, 2025
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
June marks National Pride Month, a time in which we honor, celebrate and support the achievements of the LGBTQIA2S+ community on our campus and beyond.
At the University of Nevada, we are committed to fostering a culture rooted in equality, respect, and understanding for every member of The Wolf Pack Family. Homophobia and gender identity- based oppression have no place here.
Our institution-wide commitment is reflected in the work of our Queer and LGBT+ Advocacy Board (QLAB), comprised of our LGBTQIA2S+ and allied faculty, staff and graduate students. QLAB draws on research and best practices to continually support our on-campus LGBTQIA2S+ community through providing resources, hosting events and advocating for positive policy and institutional changes.
While June is Pride Month throughout the nation, the Northern Nevada Pride Festival, our area’s largest LGBTQIA2S+ celebration, will be held later this year, on September 6. We know that many from our University community will be there, showing up in solidarity.
We stand proudly with our LGBTQIA2S+ students, faculty and staff. Let us continue to encourage ongoing dialogue and reflection. Let us also consider how we might further enhance our campus as a space of inclusion, where each person is acknowledged, respected and deeply valued.
Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
