September 6, 2023

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Angela Moore has been named the University of Nevada, Reno’s Interim Director of Diversity and Inclusion.

Since June of 2022, Dr. Moore has served as the University’s Program Development Specialist for Diversity and Inclusion. In this role, Dr. Moore developed and led diversity and inclusion training for the campus, supported several faculty/staff affinity groups, acted as lead organizer for the highly successful Northern Nevada Diversity Summit, and led the collaborative effort to produce a campus-wide “Recommendations for a Welcoming & Inclusive Syllabus Resource,” among many other notable accomplishments.

Dr. Moore has been a representative on the Nevada System of Higher Education IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) Council since fall 2022, a member of NSHE’s Sexual Misconduct Task Force, a member of the Faculty Senate Diversity Committee and a liaison to the University of Nevada, Reno Medical School Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Moore joined the University in 2019 as a Teaching Assistant Professor and Academic Advisor in the English Department before joining the Diversity and Inclusion team. Dr. Moore’s academic background is in social change rhetoric and trauma-informed pedagogies.

I wish to thank Dr. Moore for the outstanding work she has done over the past year in furthering our Diversity and Inclusion mission, and in her willingness to continue to lead this effort for the coming academic year. A national search for the position of Director of Diversity and Inclusion will begin early next year. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Moore in her new position and thanking her for her incredible service to our campus community.

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
President
