The University of Nevada School of Medicine, now in its 47th year, is committed to its mission as a four-year research-intensive, community-based, statewide medical school, based in Reno, with outreach to Nevada’s rural communities and unique training opportunities in Las Vegas.

The School of Medicine's internal medicine multispecialty clinic office at 1500 E. Second Street, Suite 302 in Reno, previously part of the school's clinical practice group, has joined Renown Medical Group. The change is effective on May 1, 2016 and follows the 2014 partnership agreement between the School of Medicine and Renown Health as the two organizations collaborate to improve the health and health care of northern Nevadans.

"The integration of these clinical practices creates a tremendous opportunity for residents and medical students to have an enhanced medical education while providing optimal medical patient care which supports the goal of a healthy Nevada," said Cathy Goring, M.D., the School of Medicine's chair of the department.

The location and phone number (775)784-1500 will remain the same, but incoming phone calls now will be answered by Renown's call center. They will see patients under a professional services agreement with Renown, while Renown assumes responsibility for the administrative staff, electronic medical records, office space, equipment, scheduling and billing.

"We're bringing the expertise of our organizations together to provide our best to the community," said Sy Johnson, Renown Health executive vice president and chief operating officer. "We are pleased to welcome School of Medicine physicians to offer a multispecialty practice alongside other services on our campus."

All current School of Medicine internal medicine patients were notified of the integration plan by letter the week of April 1.
Patients with insurance outside the Renown insurance network were notified of their options for ongoing care, including the option to transfer care to the School of Medicine's Patient Centered Family Medicine Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
