Winner of the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, "Alive Inside" chronicles the astonishing experiences of individuals around the country who have been revitalized through the simple experience of listening to music. Filmmaker Michael Rosatto-Bennett visits family members who have witnessed the miraculous effects of personalized music on their loved ones, and offers illuminating interviews with experts including neurologist Oliver Sacks ("Awakenings"), geriatrician Bill Thomas ("Second Wind") and musician Bobby McFerrin ("Don't Worry, Be Happy").

This event will feature a screening of the film, followed by Q&A with:

  • Michael Rossato-Bennett, writer, director and producer of "Alive Inside"
  • Ryan Elisabeth Reid, writer and director of "Henri", a play about Alzheimer's
  • Jane Fisher, Ph.D., professor of clinical psychology, director of Nevada Caregiver Support Center, University of Nevada, Reno
  • Shirley Randolph, Care Partner, Alzheimer's Association, Northern Nevada

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3 in the Nightingale Concert Hall in Church Fine Arts. Registration for the event is required.
