Wolf Pack accepts New Mexico Bowl invitation
Nevada to face Pac 12 foe in Dec. 15 bowl
The University of Nevada accepted on Sunday an invitation to play in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 15 in Albuquerque, the school and bowl announced on Sunday.
This will be Nevada's second trip to the bowl, which is the first game of the bowl season and will air nationally on ESPN and ESPN Radio. The Wolf Pack will play a to-be-determined opponent from the Pac-12 conference.
"We are excited for this opportunity to represent our university and community in this great event," Nevada athletics director Cary Groth said.
Tickets for the Nevada seating section are $40 and will be available beginning Monday at 10 a.m. by visiting NevadaWolfPack.com or calling (775) 348-PACK.
This marks the eighth consecutive season that Nevada will play in a bowl, which is a program record and the 15th-longest streak in the nation. This will be Nevada's second appearance in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The Wolf Pack fell to New Mexico 23-0 in the 2007 game.
"This is great news and we will be looking forward to it," Nevada coach Chris Ault said. "We know from experience that this is a first-class event."
The Wolf Pack, which is 7-4 overall and 4-3 in Mountain West play this year, will conclude the regular season on Saturday against Boise State at Mackay Stadium.
"We are happy to welcome Nevada back to the Gildan New Mexico Bowl," said Jeff Siembieda, Gildan New Mexico Bowl Executive Director. "They are an exciting team, having a terrific season and we look forward to hosting Coach Ault and his team for what should be another great bowl week."
Nevada's ticket allotment will be located in sections "A" through "I" of the west side of University Stadium. If necessary, Nevada will assign seats based upon its loyalty point system.
The Gildan New Mexico Bowl is the first bowl game of the season. It will kickoff at 11 a.m. from University Stadium on the campus of the University of New Mexico. The game is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television.
