Celebrating the grand opening of the John Tulloch Business Building
August 26, 2025
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
Today the University will celebrate the grand opening of the John Tulloch Business Building, the much-anticipated new home of the College of Business!
Please join us at 3 p.m. today for the ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the building at the corner of Ninth Street and University Way. As a reminder, Ninth Street will be closed between North Virginia Street and University Way from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today as our team prepares for this historic event.
The Tulloch Business Building stands as a landmark achievement for the University. This 128,000-square-foot facility will serve as a hub for business education and innovation in the region. It creates a new front door to campus, connecting the University to the heart of the city and reflecting our commitment to research, innovation and the shared future we are building together. We are proud that the project was completed on time and on budget in partnership with Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate.
The building features state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative study spaces, a 300-seat auditorium and a finance suite and trading lab with real-time stock market data. It also includes a student commons, a career development center and office space for faculty and staff. Designed to foster collaboration and innovation, the space will prepare students to meet the challenges of the modern business world.
In addition, the Tulloch Business Building houses several student and community outreach programs that promote entrepreneurship and creative solutions, including the Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship, the E.L. Cord Foundation Student Success Center and the Nevada Business Career Center.
Last year, the project received the P3 Bulletin Award for Best Education & Higher Education Project, which recognizes public-private partnerships that use innovative strategies to enhance educational facilities. The Edgemoor team also included LMN Architects as lead designer and Clark Construction Group as the design-builder.
A significant portion of the project was awarded to local contractors and businesses. In total, more than 70% of the project’s labor and materials went to Northern Nevada firms. Over the two-year construction period, more than 1,500 workers and 75 companies contributed to the project, generating millions of dollars in revenue for Nevada-based firms and providing a meaningful boost to the regional economy.
Additionally, the project was designed with sustainability in mind and is on track to achieve LEED Gold certification. The building incorporates numerous energy-efficient features, including natural light harvesting, high-performance insulation and vegetation covering over 30% of the site.
This is an historic milestone for our University, and on behalf of our institution, I wish to thank everyone who contributed to making the Tulloch Business Building a reality. We look forward to welcoming generations of future leaders through its doors. We’re open for Business!
Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
President
