College Optical Express has opened a new location in the Joe Crowley Student Union to serve the University of Nevada, Reno campus community, offering eyeglasses, contact lenses and eye exams to University students and staff in a convenient location. The College Optical Express also offers LASIK eye surgery screenings and referrals, as well as sunglasses and sports or safety glasses.

Optometrist Dillon Boynton, owner of the new store, will provide routine and medical eye care to students. Boynton said he and the Optical Express team are excited to be involved with the University.

“My goal is always to see students succeed,” he said. “I’m happy to help that happen by giving students easy access to eye care.”

The new campus store is VIOPSYS (Vision Operating System)-certified and takes advantage of the latest and most efficient ordering system available. VIOPSYS synchronizes interactions between opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists and suppliers so that each order is sent with a paperless “one-click transaction” and is automatically tracked and confirmed by both the store and supplier. The system allows for better accuracy and quicker delivery of goods.

College Optical Express is open on the first floor of the Student Union from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. It joins a dozen independent businesses already operating in the Student Union, including Silver State School Credit Union, Kaplan and several restaurants. The Cantina del Lobo, the latest restaurant to join the Joe, opened in fall 2009.
