Program spreads Christmas spirit to needy children

In an effort to show Christmas spirit to less fortunate children, Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada and the Northern Nevada International Center are accepting donations of pre-filled Christmas stockings until Thursday, Dec. 18.

“We’ll hopefully give as many kids as possible something to look forward to for Christmas,” said Carina Black, executive director of Northern Nevada International Center.

With the program titled “Operation Stocking Stuffer,” the donations go to children in the Emergency Assistance Program at Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada. The children receive the stockings on Monday, Dec. 22.

“It makes perfect sense to be involved not just internationally but to make sure your own community is taken care of,” Black said.

To drop off donations, go to St. Vincent’s on Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Northern Nevada International Center on Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Northern Nevada International Center is located on 821 N. Center St. and St. Vincent’s is located on 500 E. Fourth St.
