The John and Geraldine Lilley Museum of Art has welcomed Stephanie Gibson as its new director.

Gibson is a curator and arts administrator from Ottawa, Canada. She has worked in varying capacities of exhibition management at institutions in both the United States and Canada, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery of Canada and the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. She was most recently the assistant director for Nevada Humanities. Gibson holds a master’s in Art History from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and a bachelor’s in Art and Culture from Western University in London, Ontario.

“We welcome Stephanie and thank Vivian Zavatero, whose leadership has been transformative where she led the museum through a transition from gallery to a university-based museum, resulting in significant increases in non-student attendance, loan requests, fundraising and enhanced curricular incorporation across a wide array of disciplines,” Casilde Isabelli, Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, said. “Stephanie is well prepared to further this legacy and continue to grow the Lilley Museum of Art’s impact on this campus, this community and beyond.”

Gibson has written reviews for publications including “Muse,” “Ciel Variable” and “Magenta Magazine,” and maintains an independent curatorial practice. Gibson curated the inaugural exhibition at the John and Geraldine Lilley Museum of Art, and is passionate about connecting people with art, and turning big, thoughtful ideas into engaging exhibitions and public programming.

The Lilley is located in the University Arts Building and is open to the public on Tuesday noon-4 p.m., Wednesday noon-4 p.m., Thursday noon-8 p.m., Friday noon-4 p.m., and closed Saturday through Monday. General parking is available in the Brian Whalen Parking garage, located just northwest of University Arts. The main entrance to the Brian Whalen Parking garage is located on the east side of North Virginia Street, between 14th Street and 15th Street. Public metered parking is available at the lowest level of the Whalen parking complex, though parking on Saturdays is free.
