Eligibility & Application


Student is eligible if:

  • From an income qualified family; AND/OR
  • From a family where neither parent with whom student resides has a four-year college degree; AND
  • U.S. citizen, naturalized, or permanent resident of the U.S.; AND
  • Between ages of 14 and 18 years of age; AND
  • Attending a target high school in Washoe or Lyon Counties in Nevada (see list of eligible schools below)

Eligible Schools in Northern Nevada

 Washoe Grant Schools:

  • North Valleys High School
  • Hug High School

Truckee Grant Schools:

  • Spanish Springs High School
  • Sparks High School

Northwest Grant Schools:

  • Fernely High School
  • Silver Stage High School

Silver Grant Schools:

  • Reed High School
  • Wooster High School

STEP I: Documents needed to apply: 

  • Completed and signed Application
  • School Counselor Assessment
  • English Teacher Assessment
  • Math Teacher Assessment
  • Science Teacher Assessment
  • Writing Sample
  • Test Scores: Nevada Proficiency Exam or ITBS
  • Current Transcript or Report Card

STEP II: (If selected for an interview):

  • Proof of income (Federal 1040/1040A/1040EZ tax return or other documentation of income)
  • Copy of Social Security Card or Permanent Residency Card
