Karim's background is primarily in research administration at the University of California. He has over 12 years of experience in pre and post-award contract and grant administration, working both in departments and in central offices.
For the past three years, Karim served as the assistant director in the Office of Contract and Grant Administration at UC San Diego where he oversaw the issuance of $150 million per year in outgoing subawards, complex industry contracts, multi-site clinical trials, ancillary research agreements and fee-for-service agreements.
Prior to UC San Diego, Karim spent three years working in regulatory compliance at Northwestern University and as a healthcare consultant in Chicago, Illinois.
