For interested students, the Department of Sociology at the University of Nevada, Reno offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in which undergraduate students must complete 30 credits in the major and complete a minor in the College of Liberal Arts.

All sociology majors must also take three additional three-credit sociology courses as electives.

Minor in Sociology

Students majoring in another field may minor in sociology by completing the following:

  • SOC 101 - Principles of Sociology
  • SOC 207 - Intro. to Sociological Theory

Sociology minors must also take at least one three-credit course from each of the three groups listed above and one additional three-credit course as an elective for a total of 18 credits in sociology.
