2020 RENO JAZZ FESTIVAL CANCELED

(Updated at March 10, 2020)

After considerable thought and deliberation, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Reno Jazz Festival. The safety and security of Festival attendees and participating musicians is our highest priority. Because novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to have devastating effects on communities across the country and the world, University and Festival leadership believe this is a necessary decision to ensure the health and safety of the thousands of individuals who typically attend the Festival.

The 2020 Festival would have gathered more than 8,000 students and family members from across Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. In addition, 60 adjudicators and guest artists travel from across the country to attend the Festival. Because of the large-scale nature of this event in combination with the ever-evolving realities of COVID-19, we feel that cancellation, while far less than ideal, is a respectful and prudent step intended to ensure the safety of thousands of aspiring musicians and their families.
