Summary
Charlene has extensive experience as a Certified Public Accountant in both the private and public sectors. Charlene spent more than seven years in public accounting prior to joining the University. Her years of experience at the University, first as a fiscal officer for CABNR and then in her role as director of Sponsored Projects, have given her perspective and a deep understanding of the regulatory and fiscal issues faced in a research environment. As associate vice president for research administration, Charlene oversees several compliance, regulatory and R&I budget functions, with the directors of Sponsored Projects, Environmental Health & Safety, Research Integrity, and Animal Resources reporting to her.
Community Service
Charlene also has a strong dedication to her community. She served on the Washoe County School District Audit Committee for over 10 years, served a four-year term on the Washoe County School District Other Postemployment Benefits Board, served as board treasurer for the Washoe County DUI Task Force for four years and served on the Domestic Violence Resource Center (formerly the Committee to Aid Abused Women) board for eight years. Charlene currently serves on the board for FBI Reno Citizens Academy Alumni Association as board treasurer.
