Pronghorn

The University of Nevada, Reno's user-driven, high performance computing cluster is extending research capacity and supporting the latest research applications in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, computational biology, computational neuroscience, bioinformatics and large data sets. Known as Pronghorn, the research-computing cluster is named after the American antelope, the fastest mammal on the North American continent.

The CPU partition features 108 nodes, 3,456 CPU cores, and 24.8TiB of memory. The GPU partition features 44 NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPUs, 352 CPU cores, and 2.75TiB of memory. The Visualization partition is composed of three NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs, 48 CPU cores, and 1.1TiB of memory.

Pronghorn is centrally managed by the Office of Information Technology, with project funding from the Office of Information Technology, Research & Innovation, the Governor’s Office for Economic Development, donors and faculty research programs. Switch, a global technology company and leader in the design and operation of advanced data centers is providing critical technology infrastructure support services such as space, power, and security at its Citadel Campus.
