About our Project

Connect the Dots LogoWe're an NIH funded research study investigating the effects of Black/African American women's social networks on their HIV testing attitudes and behaviors. The data we collect will be useful in creating targeted interventions to increase early detection and treatment engagement in HIV positive women (among other things). The process is pretty straightforward: study participants are first prescreened for eligibility.  If they are eligible, they will participate in a two hour interview that covers topics such as health, family, and community background, attitudes toward HIV, cultural beliefs, etc. Each participant receives a free test for HIV, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Participants then receive referral cards for five members of their social network. Participants are paid an initial $40 for the interview, and receive an additional $5 for each referral who participates. We are currently in the recruiting phase, so we're reaching out to your agency in the hope that you can help us recruit study participants.
