Undergraduate Advising
Advisement for undergraduate students is conducted by the departmental advisors. New and transfer students are required to meet with a College of Science advisor prior to registration. Faculty advisors are available by referral from departmental advisors. Advising is available for students that want feedback on courses, academic requirements and after graduation career plans. The Department of Psychology does not require its major to seek advisement, but it is recommended to make sure degree requirements are met in a timely manner.
To declare a major, or to get a signature from an advisor there is no need to make an appointment; you can just leave the form with one of the assistants in the Department of Psychology and come pick it up in a couple of days if necessary. Forms can also be dropped off for major or minor declarations after previewing the course catalog.
Contact/Make an Appointment
To make an appointment with your appropriate psychology department advisor, either stop by the Psychology Department office (Mack Social Science 438) or call the department at (775) 784-6828.
Additionally, our advisors can be reached via email at psyhelp@unr.edu with any questions you may have. This account is monitored regularly and most questions will be responded to within a day. If an advisor feels your question would be better handled in person, they will suggest this in their reply.
