Leading the way in sustainable energy

The Nevada Institute for Sustainability is dedicated to transformative research and educational programs to help Nevada become a leader in sustainable energy.

The Institute conducts large-scale transformative research in collaboration with both internal and external entities. By building partnerships with national laboratories, other Universities and industry, NVIS is developing the research infrastructure and collaborations necessary to be competitive for large-scale research grants.

The Institute focuses on two key research areas: materials for energy efficiency and energy-efficient manufacturing and power systems research. These areas have been identified by federal agencies as a research priority and have the potential for Nevada to take a leadership role.
