IVLP Highlight: Indonesia - February 2015

Indonesian Delegation Looking at Landfill

Reno, Nevada; February 11-14, 2015; Dr. Carina Black and Mr. Jowi Asmar, Northern Nevada International Center.
A State Department sponsored delegation from Indonesia arrived in Reno under the International Visitor Leader Program in order to learn more about wildfire prevention, water sustainability, waste management, and Native American water and fishing rights. The delegation was thrilled to meet with important personnel from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada Division of Forestry, and the Truckee Meadows Water Authority. Furthermore, the Indonesians were able to cultivate relations and a better understanding of Native American culture and political life impart from Shoshone and Paiute tribal members. In addition, the delegation was excellently accommodated by the Siena Hotel and the Mulvenon and Langley families for a home hospitality dinner. Certainly, the delegation was amazed by the aesthetic pleasures of Lake Tahoe as they embarked on a cultural endeavor to better understand northern Nevada's environmental surroundings.
