FAQ: Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators

1. When is the test offered?
Once you register with your Praxis account, you will be able to pick a test number, date, and time. Register here: https://www.ets.org/praxis/about/core/

2. Is the test offered online?
The Praxis CORE is only offered at testing centers.

3. What is the wait time for getting an appointment to take the Praxis CORE?
Tests are offered continuously throughout the year. You will register using your Praxis account, at which time you will select the date and time for the test.

4. How soon will I get the results?
Reading and math scores can be delivered right after you finish the test. The writing score can take up to three weeks after the testing window closes.

5. How much is the Praxis CORE?
The cost of the tests vary depending on how many sections you take at a time. Taking one of three CORE tests (writing, reading, and match) costs $90 for 1 hour and 25 minutes. To take all three at the same time is $150 and takes 5 hours.

6. How soon after can you retest?
If you take the test and feel that you didn't do your best, you can retake the test 21 days after the original test day, or in the next testing window. You may retake the test as many times as you would like, as long as the state approves.

7. What can I bring on the day of the test?
You should only bring your admission ticket and proper identification on the day of the test. The admission ticket can be printed out by accessing it on your Praxis account. Identification must include your full name as shown on your Praxis account, a current photo, and signature. Forms of acceptable identification include a passport, driver's license, state ID, or military ID. No personal items will be allowed in the testing center, including cell phones, snacks, watches, or purses. There is a space for you to put your things, but you will not be allowed to check on them, even during breaks.

8. Does the Praxis CORE score expire?
The score will be available on your Praxis account for one year from the date of your test. After that, your score can be mailed, for a cost of $50, to you and must be ordered online or over the phone. The score expires 9 years and 11 months after the day of the test.
