Adding And Updating Names
Changing your Preferred and Degree names in MyNEVADA 2.0 is not an official name change. A Preferred name will be the name displayed on your MyNEVADA 2.0 account when you are logged in and on all class rosters. If you do not have a Preferred name listed, your Primary name will be used.
A Degree name is the name which will be printed on your diploma and the name printed in the Commencement program. If you do not have a Degree name listed, your Primary name will be used. Preferred names will NOT be printed on your diploma or in the Commencement program.
If you have had a legal name change, you must go through the proper channels to have your Primary name officially changed. Students are not able to update their Primary name in MyNEVADA 2.0. Since the Primary name is used for all official record purposes including transcripts and Webcampus students are not able to update it themselves.
- If you are an active NSHE employee (faculty, staff, TA) you will need to contact the HR department and change your Primary name with them first. If you do not update your name with HR first, the HR system will continue to override MyNEVADA and display your former Primary name.
- If you are a student, you may complete the "Request to Change Personal Identification Data" form and submit to Admissions and Records (2nd floor of the FSSB) with the supporting documentation to have your Primary name officially changed.
If you would like to edit/add a preferred or degree name, navigate to MyNEVADA 2.0 and search 'Personal Data Summary".
Click on the 'Personal Data Summary' icon and then you will be prompted to log in.
You will be brought to your Personal Data Summary. Under the Personal Information section, click on Names.
Here we will be adding a Degree Name - begin by clicking on [Add A New Name].
The Add A New Name page appears as below.
Add a Degree Name by selecting "Degree" under name types.
You may change the formatting of your name based on various countries' naming conventions by clicking on [Change Format].
You may choose your name formatting in the Look Up Window.
Complete all necessary fields with the appropriate information, then click [Save].
You will receive this Save Confirmation after your information has been processed.
On the main Names page, you may view and edit your Preferred and Degree Names, and delete your Degree Name.
Note: On the main Names page, the list only reflects the first and last names that were entered. For Degree Name, your name will be printed according to all the information you inputted when you updated your Degree Name. This includes the correct country formatting, your middle name and suffix if you have inputted information in those fields, but not including any prefix.
