Summary
¡Hola! My name is Maggie and I am from Mexico City, where I lived for 13 years before moving to the U.S. After I received my bachelor’s degree in public health from Schreiner University in Texas, I moved to San Diego to work on injury prevention in predominantly Latinx communities and elementary schools.
I then moved to Reno to pursue a master’s degree in public health at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I began doing research on health policies implemented in my home country and across the region of Latin America. As a grad student, I worked as a substance use educator and teaching assistant, which helped me discover an interest in working with higher ed students.
Today, I am very passionate about the intersection of health and well-being and student success. My goal is to help Latinx students feel connected with their latinidad and to increase the representation and visibility of Latinxs in academia.
