Dr. Danny Taylor

Danny Taylor is the PI of the MSOS Lab's research projects. He is also an Associate Professor of the UNR Mining Engineering Department. He has many years of consulting experience in the area of exploration analysis, mining operations, plant design and economic feasibility. He has prepared over twenty major reports for the mining industry and government clients.

Danny has presented and published twenty eight papers in the field of operations research, mining operations, exploration analysis, and project economics. In addition, he served as expert witness in over twenty legal cases involving mining properties and operations. He is qualified as an expert in the field of mining operations and economics in state and federal district courts.

Dr. Ebrahim Karimi-Tarshizi

Ebrahim Tarshizi is the founder and director of the MSOS Lab in the Mining Engineering Department at University of Nevada, Reno. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Geo-Engineering from the UNR Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering. Ebrahim received his first master's degree in Mining Engineering with a graduate minor in Business Administration from UNR and his second Master's in M.B.A. from the UNR College of Business. He also earned his bachelor's degree in Mining-Exploration Engineering in 2004, Iran. His current research broadly focuses on mine systems optimization using simulation and animation methods. Ebrahim has received the award for Outstanding Ph.D. Student in Mining Engineering from the UNR Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering in 2013.

Virginia Ibarra

Virginia Ibarra is a graduate student working on her master's in Mining Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is also a member of the MSOS Lab and conducting research on mine system simulation and animation.

Virginia received her bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 2000 from the University of Nevada, Reno. She has 12 years of work experience in residential and commercial land development in the Reno-Sparks area.
