Biography

Dr. Yiliang (Leon) Liao received his B.Sc. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China in 2006, and the M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Rapid City, SD, in 2008. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, in 2012.

After graduation, he worked as a research engineer in Caterpillar Global Tech Center, Peoria, IL (2013-2014). Dr. Liao joined the University of Nevada, Reno in the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in July 2014. Dr. Liao's research interests include laser-based advanced manufacturing and laser materials processing, manufacturing process innovation, mechanical/physical property enhancement, integrated computational materials engineering, manufacturing process simulation and materials modeling.
