Dr. Fan joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno in July 2015. Her research is focused on the modeling and simulation of mechanics-related phenomena in advanced materials, encompassing solid mechanics, materials physics, and high performance computing at multiple length and time scales.
Dr. Fan received her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. Prior to her study at Georgia Tech, she received her B.S. in engineering mechanics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) in 2005 and M.S. in mechanical engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2008. Then, she worked as a structural analysis engineer in The Shaw Group and was responsible for evaluating and qualifying the structural reliability of fabrication facilities for nuclear fuels.
