The University of Nevada, Reno offers a variety of ways to approach tobacco cessation. Through education and resources, both local and national, we hope you will find a way to live tobacco free. This may be one of the most difficult and best things you ever do. We encourage everyone to adopt an approach that best fits their need. Different people find success with different approaches to quitting and we hope you find yours here. Below is a list of resources available to University students, faculty and staff.
Freedom From Smoking Online
Freedom From Smoking® Online, or FFS Online, is a program specifically designed for adults who want to quit smoking. It's an adaptation of the American Lung Association's group clinic that has helped thousands of smokers to quit for good.
Non Prescription Nicotine Replacement Therapy - Gum or Patch
Some individuals find Nicotine Replacement Therapy to be helpful when they first quit. NRT works best when paired with counseling or a cessation program such as Freedom From Smoking Online.
Nevada Tobacco Quitline
The Nevada Tobacco Quitline is a free telephone and online coaching service for any Nevada resident who is ready to quit tobacco.
UNR Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
This resource is available to all University employees as an assistance program.
Public Employee Benefits Program (PEBP)
If you need help quitting, a health care provider or physician can be a good resource.
