J. Diego Zarazua

Summary

J. Diego Zarazúa immigrated from Querétaro, México with his family to rural Nevada. He is the first in his immediate family to graduate from college becoming a University of Nevada, Reno alumnus. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Spanish Language, Culture, and Literature minor. He is currently completing his World Languages and Literatures Spanish Specialization Master of Arts degree. Diego has spent his professional and academic career serving students and the local Latinx community. He was a member of the Latino Student Advisory Board during his undergraduate career and part of the pioneers of Noticiero Móvil at the Reynolds School of Journalism. Diego served as branch manager for the UNR Wells Fargo branch and as Wells Fargo’s Northern Nevada Latin Connection Team Member Network Chair until 2018. He has worked closely in Spanish communications in many capacities from host of the Buen Día Reno tv show to intern reporter for Noticias Univision Nevada and radio show host for Éxitos 1500AM. As Coordinator in Education, Research and Outreach for the Latino Research Center he plans to continue serving the Latinx community by strengthening the bridge between our campus and greater Nevada community and empower students to help enhance the Latino community as advisor for the Latino Student Advisory Board while building on their own academic excellence and cultural pride. In his free time, he enjoys staying active outdoors and spending time with close friends, family and his two American Eskimo pups.

J. Diego Zarazúa inmigró de Querétaro, México junto a su familia a el área rural de Nevada.  Es el primero de su familia inmediata en graduarse de un colegio convirtiéndose en un graduado de la Universidad de Nevada, Reno. Recibió su licenciatura en periodismo y una asignatura secundaria del idioma, cultura y literatura español. Actualmente esta completando su maestría en Lenguas y Literaturas Mundiales con una Especialización en español. Diego ha pasado su carrera profesional y académica al servicio de estudiantes y de la comunidad latina. Durante su carrera universitaria fue miembro del gabinete de asesoría de estudiantes latinos y parte de los pioneros de Noticiero Móvil del Reynolds School of Journalism. Diego sirvió como gerente de la sucursal de Wells Fargo de UNR y como presidente del Latin Connection Team Member Network del norte de Nevada para Wells Fargo hasta el 2018. Él ha trabajado cercanamente en comunicaciones en español en varias facetas, como presentador del programa de tv Buen Día Reno, reportero interno de Noticas Univisión Nevada y presentador de radio para Éxitos 1500AM. Como Coordinador en Educación, Investigación y Compromiso a la Comunidad, él planea continuar sirviendo a la comunidad latina, fortaleciendo el vínculo entre estos y nuestro campus y capacitando a los estudiantes para ayudar a mejorar a la comunidad latina por medio del gabinete de asesoría de estudiantes latinos mientras construyen su propia excelencia académica y orgullo cultural. En su tiempo libre, disfruta realizar actividades al aire libre y pasar tiempo con su familia, amigos cercanos y sus dos cachorros de raza american eskimo.
