A hand cupping running water

Hi, my name is Mara Nutt (they/them/theirs). For a little about me, in 2019, I completed my B.S. in Geology at Mills College in Oakland, Calif.  Following that, I worked as a post baccalaureate student intern at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M. I am now enrolled in the Hydrology Ph.D. program at the University of Nevada, Reno working with Dr. Joel Sheingross in the Geology Department. My research focuses on the weathering oxidation of shales with respect to the geologic carbon cycle and contamination of groundwater. To do this I’m going to be doing field work along the California coast, and in the lab I will be analyzing samples for organic Carbon and trace metals. When not working, I enjoy hiking and biking.
