Honors orientation FAQ
As an honors student, do I still need to participate in the rest of the orientation program?
Yes. Honors orientation will be specifically targeted to the Honors College and will not cover all of the information you will need to be successful at the University.
What will be covered during my Honors orientation session?
At honors orientation, you’ll learn more about all that the Honors College has to offer including a first-year experience course and peer coaching program designed to ensure that you get the most out of your first year at the University; small sections of core-designated courses taught by top research faculty; specialized honors advising targeted to your academic, professional and personal goals; and a dedicated Honors Student Council.
Do I need to register for honors orientation?
No. You will be registered automatically for the honors orientation session that corresponds to your University orientation session. You will receive information relevant to your honors orientation session including Zoom meeting details via email. Please consult the table below to identify your honors orientation session.

My parent(s) or other family member(s) would like to attend orientation with me. Is that permissible?
Honors orientation will be a valuable time for you to connect with other students in your honors cohort and to learn more about the student experience, but the Honors College has plenty to offer parents and family, too. All parents and friends of incoming honors students are welcome to attend orientation webinars with the students.
What should I do if I cannot attend honors orientation on my assigned date?
Because honors orientation is being held virtually, it should be possible for you to attend your assigned session from just about anywhere. However, if you know that you will not have reliable access to the internet on the date of your assigned session, please contact Kety Luna (email@example.com).
I have not yet applied for admission to the Honors College but I’m interested in learning more about it. Can I attend an honors orientation session?
The Honors College will be hosting weekly drop-in sessions for prospective honors students and their families throughout the summer months on Wednesday afternoons from 3–5 p.m. PDT. These sessions are great opportunities to ask questions and learn about the college and the application process. Please contact Kety Luna (firstname.lastname@example.org) for the Zoom link.
