GSA council members will meet with their respective college leadership at least twice during the academic year.
GSA will attend and/or co-sponsor University events to meet constituents.
Council members will serve on at least one University committee to represent GSA and report the activities at GSA council meetings.
GSA Executive team will meet the President of the University of Nevada, Reno once a month and update the council about the discussed topics.
Transparency and communication
GSA will regularly inform constituents of all GSA activities, events, and award opportunities through a variety of media.
GSA will hold “coffee breaks” throughout the year to communicate with constituents.
The office hours of the GSA President, Vice President of Internal Affairs, and Vice President of External Affairs will be posted online for constituents to consult.
College representatives, with the support of GSA Executive Members and the GSA Student Advocacy Committee, will hold “Town Hall” Meetings for their college constituents at least twice during the academic year.
Collaboration and advocacy
The Vice President of External Affairs will collaborate with Leadership of ASUN, GSA, SEC, and Faculty Senate when necessary regarding local, state, and federal legislative matters that affect our University community.
The GSA Executive team will communicate and collaborate with the National Association for Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS) about matters concerning our Graduate Student community at the University.
The GSA President will regularly collaborate with Leadership of ASUN, SEC, and Faculty Senate regarding University governance (e.g. resolutions and policy recommendations).
GSA will collaborate with other entities whose actions interest the Graduate Student community at the University.
All GSA committees will hold monthly meetings, that adhere to Nevada Open Meeting Law, outside of normally scheduled GSA council meetings during the academic year.
GSA committees will identify areas of collaboration with other GSA committees as needed to achieve goals.
GSA Committee members will encourage constituent involvement on their respective committees.
Diversity and inclusion
All GSA events will be family friendly and accessible.
The GSA will host the 5th Annual Unity in Diversity event in conjunction with the Northern Nevada Diversity Summit.
The GSA will strive to reach out to and include all of our constituents at GSA events and activities.
Graduate student mental and physical wellbeing
Promoting Graduate student mental and physical wellbeing will be an initiative of the GSA for 2019-2020, led by the President of GSA.
GSA will collaborate with University Counseling Services, Student Health Center, Fitness and Recreation, and additional campus services in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of mental and physical wellbeing.
GSA will host a series of wellness events throughout the academic year designed to promote and support mental and physical wellbeing of graduate students.
GSA will hold “coffee breaks” throughout the year to communicate with constituents and provide an opportunity to relax and talk with fellow graduate students.
