Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering
The University of Nevada and State of Nevada provide for numerous scholarship opportunities.
To find out more about what scholarships are available, visit the University Scholarship site.
The Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering has a Scholarship Program that includes the degree programs in Geology, Geological Engineering, Geophysics and Hydrogeology. Every year more than 50% of the incoming freshmen receive scholarships. Additionally 50% of continuing undergraduates receive scholarships.
If you are applying as a new freshman or transfer student, the University of Nevada, Reno application for admission is also the scholarship application. Students must have their application, ACT and/or SAT test scores, and official high school transcript on file with Admissions and Records by February 1 each year in order to be considered for scholarships.
For continuing students, please complete the on-line scholarship and application by February 1st of each year, and maintain satisfactory progress in your major to remain competitive.
Some scholarships are need-based, so completing the FAFSA each year by March 1st is highly recommended.
In order to be considered for a Mackay scholarship, you must list one of the Geological Sciences degree programs in the space labeled: "Major" on the application. Your application will then be forwarded from the UNR Admissions Office to Mackay for scholarship consideration.
