Summary
Hi, my name is Mara Nutt (they/them/theirs). In 2019, I completed my B.S. in Geology at Mills College in Oakland, CA. Following that, I worked as a post baccalaureate student intern at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. I am now enrolled in the Hydrology Ph.D. program at the University of Nevada, Reno working with Dr. Joel Scheingross in the Geology Department. My research focuses on shale weathering, specifically about what sets the speed limit on the oxidation of organic carbon in sedimentary rocks along the California coast to atmospheric carbon dioxide. When not working, I enjoy hiking and biking.
