Connor Macrossie-Smith

M.S. student, Geophysics

Summary

I am a Geophysics Masters student at the University of Nevada Reno studying the exploration of geothermal systems in the Great Basin. I grew up in Denver, Colorado and received my Bachelors in Geophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder (2017) and a GIS graduate certificate from the University of Denver (2018). After completing my undergrad I worked as an intern with the U.S. Department of Energy's Geothermal Technologies Office, and my interests in geothermal led me to UNR and working with my advisor Jim Faulds on applications of machine learning techniques to geothermal Play Fairway Analysis.

I am hopeful that my experience at the University of Nevada, Reno will allow me to diversify my academic scope and impact the geoscience community and our understanding of Nevada's geothermal potential.
