Anna Klimaszewski-Patterson wins 2019 J. Warren Nystrom Award

UNR Geography PhD Alumni Anna Klimaszewski-Patterson was awarded the 2019 J. Warren Nystrom Award from the American Association of Geographers for her work on understainding the influnces of Native American forest management practices on current day forest composition. Anna is now an Assistant Professor at Sacramento State University. See their press release on Anna's work. Contratulations Anna!

Corey Mitchell wins the David J. Morafka Memorial Research Award, 2019

UNR Geography Ms Student Corey Mitchell won the Desert Tortoise Council 2019 David J. Morafka Memorial Research Award for her work on spatial mark recapture methods for Desert Tortoises. This award was established to ward to help support research that contributes to the understanding, management and conservation of tortoises of the genus Gopherus in the southwestern United States and Mexico. Congratulations Corey!!

Kirsten Dutcher wins Best Student Paper at 2019 Desert Tortoise Council

UNR Geography PhD Student Kirsten Dutcher won the Best Student Paper award at the 2019 Desert Tortoise Council Symposium in Tucson Arizona for her talk entitiled "Genes in space: What Mojave desert tortoise genetics can tell
us about landscape connectivity in the Ivanpah Valley". Congratultoins Kirsten!!
