Job DescriptionThe Geography Department at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Scholar. This Postdoctoral Scholar will conduct research on the impacts of land use and climate change on Mojave Desert tortoise habitat suitability and corridor functionality. The position will focus on desert tortoise landscape corridor functionality and will be expected to coordinate their research with other components of the project, and contribute to larger project goals and objectives. They will also assist with project Implementation, Analysis, Management and Reporting. This position will report to Dr. Kenneth Nussear (Co-PI). This will be a full-time position with funds available through June 2022. The position has the potential to be renewed annually, based on performance and funding. Annual salary is $48,000 and includes health and retirement benefits.
Ph.D. in Geography, Ecology, Biology or closely related field by the time of the appointment.
Demonstrated advanced GIS, analytical and programming skills in R and/or Python.
A strong publication record.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
