Recruitment Practices
The Recruitment Practices Award recognizes a fraternity or sorority that has adhered to the values of community, fairness, and responsibility in its recruitment/intake practices.
- The chapter elects or appoints an officer whose primary responsibility is to coordinate the chapter's membership recruitment program.
- Documentation: An official officer description AND/OR Officer goals and objectives.
- The chapter follows all chapter-specific (National/International Headquarters) guidelines and standards for membership recruitment.
- Documentation: Evidence of guidelines (lists of rules/standards) AND/OR Evidence of the ways the chapter successfully educates members about guidelines (e.g. member education, workshops, information sessions).
- The chapter follows all university and council-specific guidelines for membership recruitment.
- Documentation: Evidence of guidelines (lists of rules/standards) AND/OR Evidence of the ways the chapter successfully educates members about guidelines (e.g. member education, workshops, information sessions)
- The chapter sponsors appropriate themes and publicity during recruitment.
- Documentation: Evidence of appropriately-themed recruitment flyers or items (e.g. t-shirts)
- The chapter conducts a workshop on appropriate membership recruitment practices for its members.
- Documentation: Evidence of workshop (e.g. schedule, program).
- The chapter conducts an evaluation process to improve its recruitment practices.
- Documentation: Evidence of evaluation tool or workshop and evaluation results, including specific recommendations.
- The chapter makes available online information about recruitment events or methods for prospective members to get involved.
- Documentation: Screenshot of information on a website (e.g. Facebook, chapter website).
- The chapter has improved its recruitment practices in at least one area, procedure, or event.
- Documentation: Evidence or summary of improvements.
