Community Service
The Community Service Award recognizes a fraternity or sorority that has made outstanding contributions in the area of community service. Community service is defined by hours spent volunteering in and contributing to the local community.
- The chapter elects or appoints an officer whose primary responsibility is planning, implementing, and coordinating the chapter's community service.
- Documentation: An official officer description AND/OR Officer goals and objectives.
- The chapter sponsors at least two community service events (focused on volunteer hours).
- Documentation: Evidence of implementation of event AND/OR Evidence of attendance and volunteer hours.
- The chapter co-sponsors community service (focused on volunteer hours) events with Greek and/or non-Greek university organizations.
- Documentation: Evidence of Greek and/or non-Greek student and/or university organization involvement AND/OR Evidence of attendance and volunteer hours.
- The chapter co-sponsors community service (focused on volunteer hours) events with non-university organizations.
- Documentation: Evidence of community member and/or organization involvement AND/OR Evidence of attendance and volunteer hours.
- The chapter has a policy that prohibits the use of alcohol, drugs, inappropriate sexual conduct, or tobacco at any community service event.
- Documentation: Copy of the written policy AND/OR Evidence of the policy's adaptation by the chapter (e.g. member education before an event, strategies for incorporation during an event).
- The chapter has improved a community service program or implemented a new community service program.
- Documentation: Evidence/summary of program and improvements, if applicable AND/OR Evidence of attendance and volunteer hours.
