Your first week on campus
Move-In Weekend (August 15 and 16)
Students living on campus will be assigned a move-in date after receiving a housing assignment during the summer.
Opening Ceremony (August 16)
- Sunday, August 16
- 3:30 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center
All new students their family members and guests, faculty and staff are invited to participate in Opening Ceremony, the formal induction of new students to the University of Nevada, Reno.
Students will check in to their Nevada FIT camps Sunday afternoon and walk to Lawlor together with their college. Parents and guests will be seated separately at the event, in a section reserved for families.
Nevada FIT (August 16 – 21)
NevadaFIT academic boot camps are required one-credit programs that kick off the fall semester for first-year students. Each college runs a unique version of the program, helping students prepare for the style, pace, intensity, and rigor of college courses.
Register for your college’s Nevada FIT camp by completing the NevadaFIT supplemental form in MyNEVADA .
Pack Palooza (August 21)
When your Nevada FIT camp draws to close Friday morning, you and your new classmates will be ready to celebrate. Pack Palooza is a campus-wide block party for new students to celebrate the end of FIT and the start of your first year. Enjoy food trucks, live music, all kinds of activities, great giveaways, and more.
Wolf Pack Welcome
Following FIT Week and kicking off with Pack Palooza, Wolf Pack Welcome is the official beginning of your college experience. Meet new friends and experience the best of campus life at free concerts, twilight campus tours, outdoor movies, informational fairs, guest speakers and much more. Wolf Pack Welcome includes six weeks of events and activities open to every student and appealing to every interest imaginable. In August we will publish an online guide to all Wolf Pack Welcome events and activities that students can download on the Guidebook app. You’ll receive an email with the link.
