Roxanne Piskel joined NevadaTeach as the Program Coordinator in April 2015. In this position she manages the daily operations of the NevadaTeach office, including coordinating recruitment efforts, providing information to prospective and matriculated students, working closely with the co-directors to develop and manage budgets, and supervising the NevadaTeach peer mentors.
Roxanne is a current fiction writing student working towards her MFA in Creative Writing here at the University. She plans to complete her first novel as her thesis, a work of literary fiction that explores the changing meaning of family and societal expectations of motherhood for women. She received her B.A. in English from Sierra Nevada College, where she was the recipient of the 2004 Editor's Award for her work on the Sierra Nevada College Review, and the Johann Sebastian Bach Passionate-Precision Award.
She is a Bay Area transplant who has called Reno home for over a decade. Along with her son, Roxanne enjoys visiting Lake Tahoe as much as possible, watching the Great Reno Balloon Race, and reading every book she can get her hands on.
