Child & Family Research Center
Welcome to the Child and Family Research Center (CFRC) home page.
Our program provides early childhood care and education to children age 6 weeks to 6 years old.
The CFRC has two program options: a fee-for-service program for University of Nevada, Reno students, faculty and staff, as well as an Early Head Start program serving families in the Reno/Sparks community who meet the annual federal poverty guidelines.
For more information about what our program has to offer, please visit Programs and Services.
The Child and Family Research center provides:
- A safe and nurturing environment which promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children
- On-site observation and participation opportunities that prepare students to work with children and families
- Support for researchers studying the development of young children
The Child and Family Research Center provides a developmental, child centered approach to early education. We provide appropriately stimulating experiences that fit naturally into children's daily routines. A variety of materials and activities are used to help children learn the value of diversity and respect for all family backgrounds. Our staff is committed to helping meet the needs of children and families for appropriate child care. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development of young children.
The CFRC is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
